Floyd

Imagine. Imagine bring ten years old. Imagine sneaking into your sisters room and looking through her album collection. Then, suddenly you come across this;

Well, I mean, he’s on fire. I just had to know what this was all about. I quickly put in on my parents turntable ( a massive piece of furniture that included storage of albums ). It would start a love affair with a band that has lasted for over thirty years. There has never really been anything like Pink Floyd, and to this day there still isn’t.

Making a Masterpiece

You’re an Animal

By this time in their history, Floyd was developing cracks, but the music was still insane. A full album of Orwell-tainted  guitar soaked wonderfulness.

The Party Wall

My cousin got to go to see several of the original live shows in NYC. I did not. I can remember someone would always seem put on The Wall very late on “festive” nights. Nothing brings a party to a screeching halt like Comfortably Numb. It never mattered. It contains what may be the greatest guitar solo ever.

The Long Cold Winter

This started a long period of no Floyd while disagreements split the band and sent David Gilmour and Roger Waters their separate ways. Gilmour made some decent albums as did Waters (Wright, and Mason did as well) but none would reach what they did previously. Three of the members reformed a new Pink Floyd, but without Waters it just wasn’t the same.

The Holy Sh*t Moment

I’m glad I got to see it live (on t.v. at least). It was an amazing moment for me, for the audience and I think for the band as well. Richard Wright passed away soon after this, which blows monkey chow to say the least. R.I.P Richard, and thank you to the band for something unique in this world.
